The first full-time librarian position in the Seinäjoki Public Library was created in 1963 after decades of teachers working as librarians. Architect Alvar Aalto designed the library building. The challenge was to design the new library with a modern vision whilst connecting it to Aalto’s architecture. Seinäjoki is one of Finland’s first new generation of libraries.
